Pérola Byington Hospital is responsible for treating more than 1,000 cases of breast cancer per year. In 2005 a model of visits based on quick diagnosis and treatment was implemented named CARE (High Resolutivity Center). This model is based on the “One Stop Clinic” approach that contemplates integrating the professionals and the physical space in the same physical area. In this model, a trained physician can have the results on the same day of mammography and ultrasonography. A biopsy is performed on the same day, and after 2 or 3 weeks, our pathologists trained in mammary pathology can give us the results with the immunohistochemistry analyses. With this approach, we have optimised resources and gain the agility to confirm breast cancer, whether palpable or not. In 2016, there was a need for integration between CARE and clinical oncology professionals. This approach allowed a clinical visit by the oncologist on the same day of the breast cancer confirmation and the possibility of initiating the treatment between 7 to 10 days. Since the prognosis is closely linked to the stage, this approach can substantially increase disease cure rates.
