The Breast Unit of the University of Heidelberg is one of the largest centers of its kind in Germany. Over 600 primary and more than 400 metastatic breast cancer patients are treated per year. Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are performed daily under the responsibility of national and international well known experts in their fields. An interdisciplinary pre- and postoperative tumorconference discusses all patients and give recommendations for further treatments. Furthermore there are several professionals for social care and health consultancy like psycho-oncologists, breast care nurses, social workers, physiotherapist, etc working for or inside our breast unit. Systemic, surgical as well as radiological treatments are offered within one unit. We also randomize patients in more than 20 international as well as national phase I – III trials in all stages of the disease.
