The Breast Unit in its present form was established in 2004 in Athens Medical Center - Maroussi, the central Hospital of Athens Medical Corporation, the biggest provider of private health services in Greece. In our breast unit all diagnostic procedures are available: digital mammography with CAD, 3D/4D diagnostic ultrasound with elastography, MRI, FNA and Core biopsy, stereotactic biopsy (mammotome)and vacuum assisted biopsy, stereotactic localization with hook-wire of non-palpable lesions. Our surgical staff is dedicated to 'Breast diseases' performing the complete range of breast cancer surgery including radioisotopic localization of SLN, oncoplastic surgery and breast reconstruction following mastectomy. There is a special unit for chemotherapy administration and our center is equipped with a modern radiotherapy unit. In parallel, our staff is involved in multiple national and international projects of basic and clinical research on breast cancer, as well as in post-graduate education and training. There is also a close collaboration with the Greek breast cancer avocacy groups.
