The breast centre of Showa University Hospital is located in the southern part of Tokyo and about 30 minutes by taxi from Haneda International Airport. It was established in 2010 by Prof. Seigo Nakamura, who moved from the Breast centre at St.Luke’s International Hospital, Tokyo, which was the first breast centre in Japan. Showa university was founded in 1928, and it has provided high-quality medical education for a long time. Several attached hospitals were established with various functions to meet the needs of the local community. Our centre aims at patient-centred comprehensive care for breast cancer, and it consists of clinical examination rooms, diagnostic imaging facilities (MMG, Echo etc.), biopsy units, genetic counselling room and ribbon’s house, which provide various kinds of support of care (anti-cancer drug hair loss measures, lectures by patients who had reconstructive surgeries and so on) Our ultimate goal is to diminish breast cancer in the future. Therefore, we are conducting clinical and basic research and providing educational opportunities, including international medical students and doctors.
