Settled in Madrid since 2001, the Hospital Oncologico MD Anderson is the first dedicated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Spain. The hospital comprises 80 beds, four operating rooms, a large radiotherapy department and outpatient clinics. The Breast Unit is part of the Surgical Oncology Department and was established in 2002 for the multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment of breast diseases. Breast cancer surgery is provided by two dedicated Consultant Breast Surgeons (Dr. Cabañas-Navarro and Dr. Ortega-Pérez) who also lead a highly motivated multidisciplinary team of breast specialists that meet weekly to collegially discuss all newly diagnosed cases. Chemotherapy and Radiation therapy are administered on site. A broad spectrum of surgical procedures including sentinel lymph node biopsy, radioguided occult lesion localization (ROLL) and immediate breast recostruction are currently provided.
