The Multidisciplinary Breast Unit (Unidad Multidisciplinar de Patología de Mama) at 'Hospital Universitario La Paz' in Madrid has treated and followed more than 8.000 breast cancer patients since 1973. The unit is accredited by the Spanish Society of Senology and Breast Pathology (SESPM) and follows the European Society of Mastology (EUSOMA) recommendations.
The Unit's primary goals are: to maintain and develop high-quality uniformed standards in the area of diagnosis, treatment and surveillance of benign and malignant diseases of the breast and to develop tasks of teaching and research activities.
The Breast Unit is a transversal organisation in the Hospital integrated with a multidisciplinary team made up by breast surgeons, plastic surgeons, gynaecologists, medical oncologists, radiotherapy oncologists, oncology nurses, nuclear specialists, pathologists, radiologist, psycho-oncologist.
In our Breast Unit, we assist and provide an integrated treatment of the benign breast disease and most of the cases of breast cancer of our health area.
